In the post-Vedic age, she began to lose her status as a river goddess and became increasingly associated with literature, arts, music, etc. In the Rigveda, Saraswati is a river as well as its personification as a goddess. So, Maa Saraswati is symbol of knowledge its flow (or growth) is like a river and knowledge is supremely alluring, like a beautiful woman. The name Saraswati came from "saras" (meaning "flow") and "wati" (meaning "a woman"). Goddess Saraswati is considered to be the "mother of the Vedas" Chant this mantra to yourself, outloud or during puja.Maa Saraswati or Devi Sarasvati is the goddess of knowledge, music and the arts. ![]() Rig Veda refers to Maa Saraswati as the ‘ inciter of all pleasant songs’, ‘ inspirer’, ‘ all gracious thought’, so take this sacred mantra to praise the Lord and request Her aid in concentration, dilligence and success in your studies. Besides being a Sanskrit composite for the Saraswati river, her very name means ‘one who leads to the essence of self-knowledge” from the combination of ‘sara’ (essence) and ‘sva’ (one’s self) with the ending of ‘ti’ (feminine being). The Divine Goddess Saraswati has always been known as the keeper of the arts, intelligence, wisdom and learning as the very mother of the Vedas. ![]()
